China’s Mini Truck Sales Drop 12% to 35,900 Units in April
China’s truck market continued its seasonal momentum in April 2026, with total sales reaching 344,000 units, up 7% year-on-year. However, the mini truck segment slipped after nine months of consecutive growth.

According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), mini truck sales fell to 35,900 units in April, down 33% from March and 12% from a year earlier, ending the growth streak that ran from July 2025 through March 2026.Over the past five years, April sales in the mini truck segment have generally declined, following a down-up-down-down-down pattern, with April usually being a weak month. April 2026’s figure ranks second-lowest in the period, around 5,000 units below April 2025.
Changan and FARIZON Buck the Trend
Among eight companies reporting sales in April, only Changan and FARIZON posted year-on-year gains, rising 16% and 18%, respectively. Shandong REACH also recorded modest growth. The remaining five companies saw double-digit declines, with the largest drop at 44%.
Wuling Maintains Market Lead
Market share remains highly concentrated. Wuling led in April with 17,900 units, holding nearly half the market at 49.9%. Changan and Chery followed with 6,788 and 5,152 units, representing 18.9% and 14.3%. Kama, FARIZON, and Dongfeng ranked fourth to sixth with 3,045, 1,544, and 1,319 units, accounting for 8.5%, 4.3%, and 3.7%. Shandong REACH and Foton sold fewer than 100 units each, together taking 0.2%.

For the year to date, Wuling dominates with a 66.6% share of cumulative mini truck sales from January to April, followed by Changan at 13.9%. Chery, Kama, FARIZON, and Dongfeng hold 8.0%, 6.7%, 2.4%, and 1.9%, while other companies account for less than 0.5%.

April marked the end of the segment’s nine-month growth streak. While cumulative sales for the first four months remain 28,100 units higher than last year, short-term momentum is weak, and the market outlook for the coming months remains uncertain.
