JAC Motors to Invest $135 Million in Uzbekistan Plant
Chinese automaker JAC Motors plans to build a new vehicle manufacturing plant in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, as part of its broader expansion strategy in Central Asia, according to a March 16 report by UzDaily.
The project, with a total investment of $135 million, will be located in the “New Avlod” Special Industrial Zone and span 30.86 hectares. It is designed with an annual production capacity of 30,000 units, covering a mix of internal combustion engine, hybrid and battery electric vehicles.
Once operational, the facility is expected to generate annual export revenue of around $5 million, supporting both domestic demand in Uzbekistan and exports to neighboring markets.

Phase one of the project, backed by an investment of 97.1 billion Uzbek soums (approximately $8 million), is scheduled to begin construction in 2026, with production also set to start within the same phase timeline.
Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev visited the project site on the day of the official announcement, accompanied by a government delegation. The visit reviewed project progress and reaffirmed the 2026 launch schedule, underscoring government support for the initiative.

The plant will be developed through a joint venture between Anhui Jianghuai Automobile International Trade Co., Ltd., which will hold a 51% stake, and Tashkent Investment Company.
The facility is expected to serve as a key overseas manufacturing hub for JAC Motors in Central Asia, strengthening its regional supply chain and production capabilities.
As the project moves forward, it is also expected to contribute to the development of Uzbekistan’s automotive industry, while creating opportunities for broader industrial cooperation and mutual growth.
