BEIJING, Jan. 23, 2026 — The 11th China Truck User Survey and Awards Ceremony, known as the “Discovery Trust” Awards, was held in Beijing on Wednesday, bringing together industry experts, truck and component manufacturers, logistics operators and industry associations.

Organised by China Trucks and co-hosted by the Logistics Investment and Financing Branch of the China Communications and Transportation Association, the annual program is based on large-scale user feedback and aims to identify commercial vehicle products and solutions that have earned long-term trust from truck users.

Now in its 11th year, the Discovery Trust program has become one of the industry’s most recognised user-oriented evaluation initiatives in China’s truck market. Its assessment framework has evolved from focusing on basic user requirements to covering specific operating scenarios and total cost of ownership (TCO) over the full vehicle lifecycle.

According to the organisers, the program seeks to reflect real-world vehicle performance while providing reference benchmarks for manufacturers, fleet operators and the wider industry ecosystem.
Commercial Vehicle Market Rebounds in 2025

The awards were announced against the backdrop of a recovering Chinese commercial vehicle market in 2025, the final year of the country’s 14th Five-Year Plan and a key planning year for the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan.

Data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) show that total truck sales reached 3.7225 million units in 2025, up 10.72% year on year. Heavy-duty truck sales rose to 1.1449 million units, marking a 26.98% increase.

The growth was supported by broader economic recovery, supportive policies and continued investment in vehicle technologies.

New energy heavy-duty trucks recorded particularly strong growth. Sales of new energy heavy trucks with operating licences reached 195,600 units in 2025, up 190% from the previous year. Applications expanded beyond closed sites such as ports and mines to a wider range of open-road logistics operations, supported by advances in vehicle technology, charging infrastructure and lower operating costs.

User-Based Evaluation System

The 11th Discovery Trust evaluation adopted a three-layer system combining user voting, expert assessment and data verification. Organisers said the approach was designed to balance real-world user experience with professional analysis and objective performance data.

Wu Yongqiang, Editor-in-Chief of China Trucks and China Trucks English, said the program’s role has expanded alongside changes in the industry.

“As the commercial vehicle sector undergoes major transformation, Discovery Trust is no longer only about selecting products,” Wu said. “It is also about observing industry trends, identifying long-term value and encouraging cooperation across the ecosystem.”

Awards Across Transport Segments

This year’s awards covered a wide range of transport scenarios, including resource transport, trunk and intercity logistics, urban distribution and last-mile delivery, as well as multiple technology routes such as battery-electric, hybrid and natural gas vehicles.

In the resource transport segment, the FAW Jiefang J6 Pro EV battery-swap tractor, Beijing Heavy Truck Blue Dream 7 electric tractor, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor Chenglong Yiwei 5 electric tractor and Chery Commercial Vehicle United Heavy Truck Electric Jingang dump truck received the 2026 User-Trusted Electric Heavy Truck for Resource Transport award. The Dongfeng Tianlong KL Huawei megawatt fast-charging tractor was recognised in the ultra-fast charging category.

Chassis and special-purpose vehicle awards went to products including the Mercedes-Benz Atego chassis and the MAN TGM chassis. In trunk and intercity transport, several electric, hybrid and conventional models were recognised for operational efficiency and reliability.

Urban delivery, last-mile logistics and VAN segments also accounted for a significant share of award recipients, reflecting the increasing diversification of China’s logistics market and the growing demand for application-specific vehicle solutions.

Recognition of Key Components

In addition to complete vehicles, the Discovery Trust program also recognised core components that play a critical role in vehicle performance and reliability.

Awards were presented in categories such as engines, transmissions, electric drive axles, batteries, braking systems, lifting systems, aftertreatment fluids, wheel ends, retarders and driver seats. Organisers said component winners were selected based on long-term operational performance and user recognition.

The organisers said the Discovery Trust program will continue to place user feedback at the centre of its evaluation process, while paying closer attention to emerging technologies, new business models and productivity improvements.

By identifying products and solutions that deliver stable long-term value, the program aims to support the development of a more efficient, greener and smarter truck industry, and to help strengthen the global competitiveness of China’s commercial vehicle sector during the next phase of industry development.
