2008 China truck race roars off in Xiamen

The opening stage of 2008 China Truck Racing will be held from 28th to May 1 in Xiamen, Fujian province and will be expanded to four more stage competitions before the national final in Beijing in September.’

Co-organized by the China Federation of Automobile Sports (CFAS) and Beijing Hanstone Advertising Co., Ltd, the tournament has come into the sixth year and will for the first time invite world-class pro teams from European Truck Racing.

The organizing committee said more efforts will be made in the following years in a bid to make the tournament international and competitive.

“We are glad to see this tournament has made rapid progress in the past years,” said Yan Jianchang, director of CFAS and also president of organizing committee. “This tournament has also proved truck race is a very spectacular sport. It will be a best platform for the truck drivers from around the world as well as the truck producers.”

Now the China Truck Racing has been rated one of the annual significant races under the sport’s governing body CFAS. A strategic co-operation with the European Truck Racing has offered greater help for the competition’s domestic development and improvement of local drivers.
