KAMAZ to sell off trucks
(chinatrucks.com, Nov. 11, 2009)The Kama Automobile-Making Works (KAMAZ) has announced the sale of its trucks at reduced prices, Oleg Afanasiev, director of the KAMAZ department for information policy, told Itar-Tass on Friday.
"The board of directors decided to sell out the trucks, produced in 2008 and in the first half of 2009," he explained. According to Afanasiev, the discount rate for trucks, kept on the parking areas, could reach 35 per cent.
"We organized the first sell-out last May, and the results were very good: buyers found money for purchasing vehicles at reduced prices. This is why we decided to hold another sell-out on a greater scale," he continued. Trucks will be sold at reduced prices not only in Naberezhny Chelny, but also in truck-selling centers, by dealer and leasing firms in Moscow, St.Petersburg, Krasnodar, Kemerovo, Surgut, Khabarovsk and other industrial centers of Russia. The sell-out will go on until the end of 2009.
There is one more reason for the sell-out: despite the crisis, KAMAZ is going to master the production of new models. “We are not only holding out against the crisis, but are also planning to come out of it with new models of a higher quality, and to establish ourselves on new positions," KAMAZ Director-General Sergei Kogogin said at a ceremony on the occasion of the opening in Naberezhny Chelny on October 30 of a new auxiliary factory for the production of automobile parts and units, built by Leoni Wiring Systems Group, Germany.
