Iveco unveils new Daily range
(chinatrucks.com, Jan.18, 2010)Iveco has revealed full details of its new range of vans, that offer improved emissions and a greater range of weights.
The new vans are known as Daily or EcoDaily, according to engine emissions levels. The Daily gets the option of new Euro-4 2.3-litre engines that produce 106/270Nm or 126hp/290Nm, in addition to the existing line-up of 2.3-litre and 3.0-litre units.
EcoDaily, however, signifies use of new versions of the 3.0-litre engine that meets both Euro-5 and the tougher EEV (Enhanced Environmentally-friendly Vehicle) standards. Initially only available at 170hp/400Nm rating, it will joined by a 140hp/350Nm version by the summer.
Also meeting EEV is the 136hp/350Nm CNG-powered engine in the Natural Power variant. However, with a £7,000 price premium at launch, some careful calculations will need to add up for it to become a popular choice, and even more so with EcoDaily Electric, also now available to order.
All versions come with a five-speed or six-speed manual gearbox, or a revised Agile automated manual with improved operating software. Safety electronics as standard include ESP, ABS, ASR, Hill Holder and a new three-letter acronym, LAC (Load Adaptive Control) which optimises ABS and ESP interventions according to load and centre of gravity.
The upper limit of GVW has been extended to 7,000kg, which Iveco claims gives a payload equivalent to three 3,500kg models and with less than 40% of their combined total emissions.
