Behr Jinan starts production for CNHTC
(chinatrucks.com, Feb.24, 2010)Behr Jinan, Behr's first fully-owned subsidiary in China, which was established in February 2009, has announced the start of production. The Jinan plant is located around 900km to the northwest of Shanghai. Behr will use the facility to supply truck customer China National Heavy Duty Truck Group (CNHTC) with air conditioning components and engine cooling systems.
Behr Jinan currently employs around 130 staff and the target is to reach sales of over €20m (US$27.2m) by 2011. Investments in the facility to date amount to some €3m.
Says Markus Flik, Behr Group chief executive officer: "The Chinese truck market is defying the global downward trend and continues to show rapid growth. Behr Jinan is a further step towards expanding our good position in this business sector in China."
Behr entered the Chinese market in 2003, since when it has been continuously expanding its activities. In 2009, Behr subsidiaries and joint ventures in China, which currently employ some 3,000 staff, posted sales of around €170m.
