GM expands capacity in China
(chinatrucks.com, April 15, 2010) President of GE Auto China Company, Wenwei Gan, responds questions proposed by press at the conference on April 12, 2010, including the way of thinking Chinese market, new vehicle model promoted next stage, and collaboration issues between GE and China on new energy vehicle, and the like.
Firstly, Mr Gan responds on Beijing Auto show, he said GE and cooperative partners will exhibit 37 types vehicle on Beijing Auto show, and promote 25 new models during 2010 and 2011.
GE and FAW will establish a JV with 50% share each, which possesses two truck production factories, one is in Yunnan, and the other is in Harbin. Another new truck factory is to be set up in Harbin as well.
GE thinks there is a great potential lying in China light truck industry. GE will introduce international truck production process and quality assurance to create improved products in next four and five years.
Sales volume of GE in the first quarter of 2010 has reached 623,546. New factory in Shenyang begins to produce Cruze, and new factory in Qingdao has been expanded capacity as well. Besides the above mentioned, GE is considering to further expand current factory capacities or increase some new factories.
