Mack hosts driving skills challenge at Waste Expo
www.chinatrucks.com: Visitors to Waste Expo 2012 today and tomorrow will have the chance to showcase their skills at the Mack Driving Skills Safety Challenge. The competition allows drivers to show off their abilities to safely operate a Mack TerraPro on a closed course set up to replicate the challenges faced on refuse and recycling routes. The competition consists of seven events, including a pre-trip inspection and turning radius and reversing accuracy challenges. Anyone with a CDL can participate. The event is co-sponsored by Allison Transmission, Bridgestone and Michelin.
The competition runs from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. today and 10 till 3 on Wednesday in the Silver Lot No. 4 outside the Las Vegas Convention Center. “Driving a refuse truck takes special skills to safely negotiate city traffic and residential neighborhoods,” said John Walsh, Mack vice-president of marketing. “The Mack TerraPro model is designed specifically for safety, maneuverability and durability, but the most critical safety component is the driver. Mack is pleased to again be sponsoring the Driving Skills Safety Challenge at Waste Expo.”
