Military Vehicle in Favor of Chinese Brand JAC Wins an Order of 300 Units
www.chinatrucks.com: Four Headquarters of the People’s Liberty Army (PLA) (including the headquarters of the General Staff, the General Political Department, the General Logistics Department, General Armament Department) jointly release a measure to carry out regulations on Party and government offices to excise economy and oppose to waste, in which one rule requires military vehicles will be purchased in a centralized way and should choose Chinese independent brands.
Military vehicles include general equipment vehicle and special equipment vehicle. Usually, special equipment vehicles come from Dongfeng, Sinotruk, SHACMAN and other Chinese independent vehicle brands; while general equipment vehicles are mix of imported and Chinese brands.
“The four headquarters of PLA conduct a bid every five years with last one held in 2012. As the new measure is implemented, the bid will be subject to change according to real needs of the army. Normally JAC, Jinbei, FAW and Foton will apply for the bid. Chinese brand vehicles purchased by PLA is increasing. Recently, PLA purchases 300 JAC Best buses instead of previous Toyota Coaster,” sources said.
“It will be a favorable policy for Chinese brand if all military official vehicles choose local brands. And the effect will not only spread to the rise in sales, but also to the private vehicles,” said by Li Jianhua, Vice General Manager of JAC Passenger Vehicle Marketing Company.
