Dongfeng Race Team Debuts Sailing Across Atlantic Ocean
www.chinatrucks.com: Dongfeng Race Team, named after leading China medium and heavy truck maker Dongfeng Motor, started the training across Atlantic Ocean from May 31. And this is the final test after training for six months systematically of Dongfeng Race Team and it is also with greatest danger so far. And their performance during this trip will decide whether they can be enrolled in the formal list of Dongfeng Race team at last.

After preparation for weeks, Charles Caudrelier, captain of Dongfeng sailing boat and the team members left Newport City sailing part of the US at 15:00 pm local time and started their journey across the Atlantic Ocean. There are worries and expectations on the port before leaving. For Chinese sailors Chen Jinhao, Yang Jiru and Kong Chencheng, it is still mistery ahead although they have been trained for five months and sailed for over 3,500 sea miles. And Zheng Yingjie and Liu Ming will join the team in Lorient in France later, and Charles Caudrelier will declare that they will compete for the chance for 2014-2015 Volvo Ocean Race on June 26, 2014.
It is the 7th section for 2014-2015 Volvo Ocean Race from Newport US to Lorient France and the distance is for 2,800 sea miles. The trip is planned to finish in eight days. Dongfeng Race Team will train for omnibearing simulation training during the sailing. And they can know more about Volvo Ocean 65. The first night will be fine according to weather forecast and the wind speed will amount to 40 knots after 24 hours.
