Chinatruck.org Visits Hyundai Motor Museum in South Korea
www.chinatrucks.com: Co-funded by Sichuan Nanjun and South Korea-based Hyundai Motor Co., Ltd., Sichuan Hyundai is a joint venture with its two investors both holding 50% of its shares. It is specialized in researching, developing, producing and selling commercial vehicles, motors, spare parts and providing related services. On the back of Hyundai’s well-connected global R&D system, Sichuan Hyundai has been conducting localized R&D and production activities of a whole spectrum of commercial vehicles, including new energy vehicles. After introducing state-of-art technologies from abroad, it has been making relentless efforts in absorbing and digesting them, aiming to make new breakthroughs and further strengthen its overall R&D competitiveness of commercial vehicles on the global stage. With its growing market shares in China and Hyundai’s well-established global sales network, Sichuan Hyundai is now set to become a well-recognized commercial vehicle production base with formidable strength and R&D capacity across the world.
On April 20, 2014, Sichuan Hyundai officially rolled out Chuanghu heavy-duty truck with Hyundai Powertec12.7L engine. Originating from the latest generation of Hyundai X cient heavy-duty truck, Chuanghu has its engine, transmission, rear axle, vehicle frame and other key spare parts all imported from abroad. Thanks to its high comfort level, durability and innovative features, the truck has soon won the hearts of many truck operators in China.
On March 29, Chinatruck.org visited Hyundai Motor Museum in South Korea, getting a closer look at Hyundai’s formidable R&D strength and state-of-art technologies.

The first floor of the museum is the Motor Studio where a wide array of auto raw materials are exhibited, such as zinc-coated plates and steel pipes. Holding a manufacturing philosophy which emphasizes on “From Zero to Zero”. That is, no waste should be produced from iron melt to iron boards, from vehicles back to iron melt, and then to steel pipes. Also on the first floor, visitors will receive the message about the interdependence of human beings and nature through the synchronized beating of a human’s heart with the operation of a machine on the media wall.
A library and a café are located on the second floor of the museum. Visitors can easily find books and magazines about the history, design and technologies of vehicles. It is said that any one who are preparing to work in Hyundai will come to the library to study. From the third to the fifth floors, a wide spectrum of Hyundai vehicles and related spare parts are put on display, making a big feast to the eye for many visitors. According to the people working in the museum, some models will attend this year’s Beijing Auto Exhibition.
