FORLAND Rolls Out Its 6.8 Millionth Vehicle
FORLAND has rolled its 6.8 millionth vehicle off the production line — a milestone that represents far more than just a big number. The company used the occasion to highlight how China’s commercial vehicle industry is shifting from following foreign technologies to leading with homegrown innovation.
At the ceremony, experts from suppliers of engines, control systems, gearboxes, axles, and gas cylinders stood alongside the production line to explain their technologies to customers. The setup underscored that this achievement is not just FORLAND’s success, but the result of close collaboration across the supply chain.

A highlight of the event was the debut of the FORLAND Linghang G6-F28T gas-powered truck. Designed to tackle two major industry challenges—rising fuel costs and limited range for electric trucks—the model was developed with clear performance targets: maximum power for blue-plate light trucks, high torque at low speeds, no speed restrictions, and operating costs under 0.5 RMB per kilometer. Guided by these goals, suppliers worked hand in hand with the company to deliver a product with strong market appeal.
FORLAND is also redefining how it develops new technologies. Rather than treating suppliers as simple parts providers, the company opened its core R&D platform and shared data, allowing suppliers to act as co-developers. This shift is helping build a stronger, more integrated innovation ecosystem.

The company has also turned its vast user base into a real-world testbed for new technologies. When China adopted the stringent National VI emission standards, many doubted whether local control systems could meet the requirements. Instead of relying on imports, FORLAND partnered with Shanghai Junfeng Electric Control and Wuhan Lincontrol, completing millions of kilometers of road tests. This bold move pushed domestic electronic control systems into mass production. Today, the LEC system, first co-developed with Wuhan Lingdian in 2014, holds more than 95% of the domestic market.

Looking ahead, FORLAND aims to move beyond building vehicles to creating a full ecosystem. At the ceremony, it announced plans to form the China Commercial Vehicle Supply Chain Alliance, focusing on joint R&D, shared platforms, and patent cooperation in areas such as National VII standards, new energy, and intelligent driving. The alliance will also improve logistics through digital platforms and spare parts hubs capable of delivering urgent parts within two hours.

On the global front, FORLAND plans to build 12 overseas KD plants with its partners and establish “China Auto Industry Parks.” This strategy will allow the company to export not only vehicles, but also technology, standards, and services—helping reduce costs and bring Chinese solutions to international markets.
The production of the 6.8 millionth vehicle highlights how China’s commercial vehicle sector is evolving. It’s not only about achieving technological breakthroughs, but also about transforming how companies work with their partners. By shifting from manufacturer to ecosystem builder, FORLAND is setting a model that could inspire the broader Chinese manufacturing industry.
