IVECO Launches New EURO6 Daily Range

www.chinatrucks.com: Iveco has updated its successful Daily range to include a new Euro6-rated variant with a 7-tonne GVM on a 4100mm wheelbase.
Featuring increased power and reduced fuel consumption, the new van range will be available in three volume capacities – 16, 18 and 19.6 cubic centimeters, and is expected to deliver efficiency and performance gains.
The updated 3-litre turbo diesel power plant delivers 180 hp and 430 Nm of torque, an increase of 10 hp and 30 Nm over the equivalent 2014 variant.
Operators can choose from two transmissions, a six-speed synchromesh double overdrive manual or Iveco’s eight-speed full automatic with self-adaptive shift strategy and ‘Eco’ and ‘Power’ functions.
The new range introduces the Euro6-rated engine through the adoption of a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emission control system using AdBlue.
The E6 Daily van is equipped with a 25-litre (nominal) AdBlue tank capacity and it is estimated that the vehicle "will consume three litres of AdBlue per 100 litres of diesel depending on conditions, this means the operator will only need to refill AdBlue every seven or eight tanks of diesel".
Iveco Australia & New Zealand product manager Marco Quaranta says the new Daily is the only van variant in the market with a seven tonne GVM and provides up to four tonnes of payload based on the model.
"In terms of carrying capacity, these figures not only make it a market leader amongst vans, but positions it as a viable and potentially more affordable alternative to a light truck cab chassis," he says.
"When you consider the cost of a cab chassis plus the cost of the body fitment, the 7-tonne Daily is very attractive and also has the benefit of being fully-built and ready for work.
"When compared to light truck cab chassis, the new Daily also provides advantages such as far superior safety features, more comfortable driving experience and lower fuel use thanks to superior aerodynamics and more sophisticated engine technologies, while still providing the strength of a full truck-like C-section chassis.
"Aside from its suitability for general distribution, courier work and refrigerated transport (with aftermarket refrigerated system installed), a ‘walk-through’ option also makes this van model suitable for recreational applications such as motorhomes."
Iveco expects the new range to be a "viable alternative" to Pantech-bodied can chassis in volume and payload.
The new models also have an option of a lane departure warning (LDW) system that uses radar signals to warn the driver if the vehicle is moving from its lane.
Further enhancements and upgrades to improve the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the Daily van and can chassis range will be rolled out later this year.
The Euro6 Daily vans will be available alongside the Euro5 Daily range.
