Fuso eCanter Hits European Roads
It’s already available in Japan, and the U.S., now operators in Europe can take a Fuso eCanter for a test-drive.
Daimler Trucks has confirmed the all-electric truck is now available in Europe and buyers big and small are welcome to climb on board.
Though the Fuso eCanter, at this stage at least, is still only being offered on a rental basis.
Daimler saying the 24-month long term rental agreement, which comes with full training on how to operate the electric truck, hasn’t been a deterrent to prospective customers.
Some major players have already signed up, including Deutsche Post DHL, DB Schenker, Rhenus, and Dachser.
Most of the operators, not surprisingly, will be using the electric truck in inner city and last mile delivery applications.
Built in Portugal, the Fuso eCanter has been confirmed for Australia, and Daimler Trucks say they plan to put the truck into full volume production around the middle of 2019.
It has a drive range of 100 kilometres, up to 180hp and a load capacity of two to three tons.
Marc Llistosella, CEO of Daimler Trucks Asia, says the eCanter is ready to impress.
“The Fuso eCanter is the answer to the need for a zero-emission, zero-noise truck designed for inner-city distribution.
“Over 90,000 kilometres of testing in everyday operating conditions makes us secure that we are handing over a reliable and economical vehicle to our customers.
“With the eCanter, our customers now operate not only quietly and without locally emitted carbon-dioxide, they also save money on operating costs.
“This is the future of urban distribution transport.”
