Foton Cummins Achieves Major Milestone in Thailand with Strong 2024 Results
On November 28, 2024, Foton Cummins (Thailand) officially opened its doors and celebrated the production of its 600,000th engine for global export. This event, held in Chonburi Province, marks an important milestone for Foton Cummins in Thailand and Southeast Asia. The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Thai government, industrial park officials, senior executives from Foton and Cummins, as well as many partners and media.

Driving Win-Win Cooperation in the Thai Market
Since the first Foton Cummins engine was exported in 2009, the company has steadily expanded its presence in overseas markets. Moving from simply exporting products to establishing manufacturing bases abroad, Foton Cummins has successfully transformed its strategy from "products going global" to "technology going global." In 2024, the establishment of Foton Cummins (Thailand) further solidified the company’s position in Southeast Asia and demonstrated the fruitful results of the partnership between Foton and Cummins.

Feng Jing, Vice President of Foton, stated that the launch of the Foton Cummins Thailand factory will optimize the supply chain and significantly improve engine production capacity and service levels, injecting new strength into Foton’s global competitiveness.
Global Strategy Meets Local Innovation
Foton Cummins has always focused on localizing its strategy, deeply understanding the needs of the Southeast Asian market. The company has developed products tailored to the region, such as biodiesel-powered engine solutions and custom AMT models. Gan Quan, General Manager of Foton Cummins Thailand, highlighted the company’s efficient execution, completing the construction of the factory in just one year, from registration in 2023 to completion in 2024.
Wang Kaijun, Vice President of Cummins, added that Thailand, as a key node in the Belt and Road Initiative, has become a critical strategic location for Foton Cummins in Southeast Asia and globally. In the future, Foton Cummins will continue to explore both traditional and new energy solutions to provide customers with efficient, low-carbon, and diverse power solutions.
Technology Breakthroughs and Strong Capabilities
In 2024, Foton Cummins achieved significant global expansion. The total export of Foton engines surpassed 600,000 units, covering a wide range of markets from Europe to Southeast Asia. With a service network across more than 240 countries and regions, Foton Cummins demonstrated its strong competitive edge in technology, quality, and market responsiveness. Over 2.6 million vehicles equipped with Foton engines are already in use worldwide, across commercial vehicles, non-road equipment, and other industries.

The first batch of engines from the Foton Cummins Thailand factory has been delivered to Foton Zhengda Automotive, where they will be used in Thailand’s truck and bus sectors, further boosting the local economy and enhancing the technological level of Thailand’s automotive industry.
Towards a Carbon-Free Future, Building a Better Future Together
In response to the global trend of carbon neutrality, Foton Cummins is embracing new energy technologies and partnering with Cummins to offer more efficient and environmentally friendly power solutions. The Foton Cummins Thailand factory will leverage the advanced manufacturing technologies of the Beijing “Lighthouse Factory,” playing a key role in driving efficient logistics and green transportation development in Southeast Asia, creating greater value for the regional economy and global customers.

Foton Cummins' success in Thailand reflects the strategic vision of Chinese companies in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative and highlights its important position in the global automotive industry chain. Moving forward, Foton Cummins will continue to drive innovation, deliver high-quality products and services, and set new global standards for Chinese manufacturing.
