FOTON Expands Product Line in South Africa with Launch of Truck Mate Mini Trucks
In May 2024, FOTON officially shipped its first batch of 300 Truck Mate mini trucks to South Africa, marking a major step forward in the company’s efforts to expand its presence in the region. With this launch, FOTON adds another key segment to its portfolio—complementing its existing lineup of pickups, vans, light-duty, and small trucks—and further accelerates its strategy for localized and industrialized operations in South Africa.
The Truck Mate is equipped with a powerful and efficient 1.5L engine from Dong’an, delivering reliable performance for a wide range of applications. Featuring a larger body and cargo capacity of up to 7 cubic meters, the model is designed to meet the versatile transportation needs of South African businesses. As a new-generation product, Truck Mate carries forward FOTON’s strong reputation for quality—offering smooth handling, enhanced comfort, and outstanding reliability.

As one of the most dynamic automotive markets in Africa, South Africa has seen rising demand for cost-effective and practical commercial vehicles. Since entering the market, FOTON has steadily expanded its footprint, investing in a full-spectrum product strategy and building trust through differentiated performance and localized service capabilities.
The introduction of the Truck Mate not only broadens FOTON’s product range but also works in synergy with its existing light trucks and pickups, offering integrated logistics solutions from last-mile delivery to medium-distance transport. This strategic addition strengthens FOTON’s brand presence in South Africa and sets the stage for expansion into other African markets.

Looking ahead, FOTON remains committed to a customer-centric approach, advancing its localization and industrialization strategies, deepening local partnerships, and continuously improving its products and services. The company aims to create greater value for South African customers and support the sustainable development of the local transport and logistics sector.
