China's Sinotruk Leads Heavy-Duty Truck Market in First Half of 2025
China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, also known as Sinotruk, led the country’s heavy-duty truck market in the first half of 2025, reporting five consecutive months of year-on-year sales growth.
The company sold 148,796 heavy trucks between January and June, securing a 27.6% market share, according to industry data. In June alone, Sinotruk recorded 24,625 units sold, marking a 29.6% increase from the same month in 2024.
China’s total heavy-duty truck sales reached approximately 539,160 units during the six-month period, a 6.9% rise from the previous year. Analysts attribute the growth to favorable policy support, increased demand for fleet upgrades, and the country’s broader push toward energy transition.
Sinotruk’s performance has been supported by the release of new vehicle models tailored to various transport needs. In April, the company introduced the HOWO TS7 dump truck in Tibet, designed for construction and mining operations. In June, it launched the SITRAK G7H, a 720-horsepower gas-powered truck intended for long-haul logistics. Another model, the SITRAK G7M, was positioned as a cost-effective option for high-efficiency transport.
In the light-duty segment, Sinotruk rolled out the 2025 Hohan light truck and a compressed natural gas (CNG) version of its HOWO truck, targeting urban logistics and environmental compliance. The company also highlighted new energy offerings at the 137th Canton Fair, showcasing models such as the VEV pickup and U70Plus SUV.
Sinotruk has made appearances at several high-profile events to enhance brand visibility. A HOWO truck served as a mobile broadcast unit at the 9th Asian Winter Games, while a SITRAK vehicle participated in a track parade at the F1 China Grand Prix in Shanghai. In June, the company’s trucks were used to transport national exam materials, underscoring their operational reliability.
Internationally, Sinotruk delivered 154 construction trucks to the Philippines for infrastructure projects in Manila. The delivery was attended by local officials who praised the vehicles’ performance.
The company also maintains a focus on driver support and social responsibility. Following severe flooding in Guizhou Province in late June, Sinotruk provided emergency vehicle services and aid. It continues to operate a driver service initiative offering rest facilities, food, and other amenities across China.
Sinotruk’s growth in 2025 reflects broader shifts in China’s commercial vehicle industry, which is placing greater emphasis on product diversification, cleaner energy, and service quality alongside traditional sales metrics.
