Desa Auto to Build New Energy Vehicle and Hydrogen Engine Plant in Jiyuan
On August 30, Desa Auto (Beijing) Co., Ltd. signed an agreement with Jiyuan High-Tech Zone to establish a new production base for new energy special vehicles and hydrogen fuel cell engines. The project represents an important milestone for the local new energy vehicle industry and will inject fresh momentum into Jiyuan’s push for industrial upgrading.
Desa Auto is one of China’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, with operations spanning R&D, production, and sales. Its portfolio includes tractors, dump trucks, medium and light trucks, cranes, and sanitation vehicles. The company holds a strong market share across more than ten provinces, including Henan, Hubei, Anhui, and Guangdong, and exports to Russia, Saudi Arabia, and five Central Asian countries. Annual sales revenue exceeds 500 million yuan.
In Jiyuan, Desa Auto will partner with Shanghai Hydrogen Propulsion Technology Co., Ltd. The project will leverage Jiyuan’s abundant hydrogen resources, Hydrogen Propulsion’s expertise in fuel cells and megawatt-level onboard systems, and Desa’s strengths in vehicle manufacturing, R&D, supply chain management, and market networks. Together, they aim to build one of China’s leading production bases for new energy commercial vehicles.
When fully operational, the facility is expected to produce 3,500 new energy vans and engineering vehicles annually, along with 10,000 hydrogen fuel cell engines, generating an output value of over 2 billion yuan per year.
The investors have already moved into the former Lifan New Energy factory site and begun design and construction work. The production line is scheduled to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2025. Looking ahead, Jiyuan High-Tech Zone will continue to provide strong support and ensure the project goes into operation as quickly as possible.
