Weichai Recognized as a Leading Smart Factory in China
Weichai has been recognized as one of China’s first “Leading Smart Factories” for its High-End Engine Smart Factory based on the Digital Lean Model. The announcement was made at the 2025 World Intelligent Manufacturing Conference in Nanjing, highlighting Weichai as a benchmark for intelligent transformation in China’s equipment manufacturing sector.
Fifteen companies were named to the first batch of Leading Smart Factories, representing the highest level of smart manufacturing in the country. Previously, five of Weichai’s factories had been recognized as “Excellent Smart Factories.” This upgrade from Excellent to Leading highlights Weichai’s strong position in digital and intelligent transformation. During the conference, Weichai also joined other top enterprises to launch the “Leading Action Plan,” aiming to foster collaboration in smart manufacturing and strengthen China’s advanced manufacturing capabilities.

Weichai’s achievement is rooted in its hands-on implementation of the Digital Lean approach. At the 2025 World Intelligent Manufacturing Expo, held alongside the conference, the company showcased AI applications across five areas: R&D, manufacturing, sales and service, product solutions, and power systems.
From traditional manufacturing to AI-driven operations, Weichai demonstrates its commitment as a state-owned enterprise. By embracing digital transformation, the company aims to lead China’s equipment manufacturing industry up the global value chain and contribute to building a stronger manufacturing nation.
