CATL and Schaeffler Sign MoU on Localized E-Control Solutions for Europe
CATL and Schaeffler have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly develop electric control solutions for the European automotive market.
Under the MoU, the two companies will cooperate on battery management systems (BMS) and integrated energy units, with the aim of developing solutions tailored to the needs of European automakers and supporting the region’s transition to new energy vehicles.
The partnership will combine the companies’ respective technologies. Schaeffler will provide its onboard charger and DC-DC converter technologies, while CATL will contribute cell monitoring and high-voltage power distribution technologies.
The cooperation will focus on two areas.
First, CATL and Schaeffler will jointly develop BMS solutions for the European market. The solutions will focus on safety, quality and system performance to meet the requirements of European customers.
Second, the companies will develop an integrated energy unit that combines high-voltage control, high-voltage power distribution and voltage conversion in a single system.
By integrating multiple functions into one system, the solution can reduce the number of cables and components. This can help make battery packs lighter and more compact, while also reducing vehicle costs and improving driving range.
The partnership is also intended to support more localized supply for European automakers.
CATL said it will continue to work with partners across the global supply chain to develop integrated, safe and locally delivered electric control solutions, supporting the wider adoption of new energy vehicles and the transition to more sustainable mobility.
