SAIC Motor sells 1.44 million vehicles in Jan-Jul 2009
SAIC Motor Corp Ltd,the largest auto maker in China, sold 1.44 million vehicles in the first seven months of the year, maintaining the leading position in the domestic market, said the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, sources reported.
In the month of July, the auto maker sold 222,653 vehicles, securing a 20.51% share of the Chinese auto market, according to the statistics released by CAAM.
The auto maker has completed 67% of its full-year sales target for 2009 in the first six-month period. It aims to sell more than 2 million vehicles this year.
In the period from January to June, vehicle sales at its two joint ventures, Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co Ltd and Shanghai General Motors Co Ltd, rose 15.4% and 16.1% year on year to hit 314,011 units and 288,843 units, respectively.
China's auto sales surged 63.57% year on year in July to 1.09 million units, raising its sales for the first seven months of this year to 7.2 million units, up 23.4% from a year earlier.
