Sinopec to build charging stations for electric vehicles
(chinatrucks.com, Feb.26, 2010)China Petrochemical Corp or Sinopec Group plans to tap the vehicle charging station market by adding charging facilities in its large gas stations in some regions, such as Beijing and Chongqing.
On Feb. 22, a Beijing subsidiary of Sinopec teamed up with Beijing Capital Science and Technology Group Corp to set up a clean-energy joint venture to build charging stations for electric vehicles.
China Southern Power Grid Co Ltd has already built two charging stations in Shenzhen.
State Grid Corp of China, another Chinese state-owned power giant, has built several charging stations in Shanghai, Tianjin and Xi'an. By the end of this year, the enterprise plans to add 75 stations and 6,029 charging facilities in Chinese 27 cities. Each station is expected to cost RMB 3 million at most.
Reportedly, Shaanxi Province will start construction on four charging stations and 200 pilot charging facilities this year. In Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, three stations and 300 pilot facilities will also be built.
