SAIC Forges Four Commercial Vehicles Production Bases
www.chinatrucks.com: After releasing MAXUS Datong brand, SAIC started to integrate commercial vehicle department. MAXUS Datong vehicle can be produced in Wuxi in the end of May. The original Huizhong Istana buses have been absorbed to Wuxi Production base, so SAIC production bases in Shanghai, Wuxi, Nanjing and Chongqing have been finished, and they will produce five million vehicles by the end of 12th five-year plan.
MPV will be produced in Wuxi production base, and their production capacity will amount to 100,000 units till end of 12th five-year plan.
Naveco will produce light trucks and light buses, and they will produce 300,000 vehicles till 2015.
SIH will mainly produce heavy duty trucks with target sales volumes amounting to 100,000 units in 2015.
Sunwin will produce large buses and coaches, and SAIC has invested 100 million Yuan with VOLVO to establish the second joint-venture to produce hybrid and pure electric buses.
SAIC will also set three key auto parts production bases, namely, engine manufacturing with Shanghai Diesel Engine and SAIC-Fiat-Hongyan, axle manufacturing in Chongqing and Ningbo, gearbox manufacturing with SAIC gearbox.
