Market Analysis of Heavy Trucks in May
www.chinatrucks.com: Sales of China auto started to decrease since April, and the market continued to shrink in May, especially the commercial vehicle markets. 307,980 commercial vehicles were produced by eighty-one commercial vehicle manufacturers in May, down 18.68%, and 339,917 commercial vehicles were sold out, down 17.03%.
Part One: Major adjustment on production and sales, especially tractors
After the conventional hot-sales first few months of a year, sales of heavy trucks started to decrease since April, and the sales in May decreased dramatically, especially tractors, and decreasing of special vehicles, vans and tippers were comparatively slow.
In addition, market shares for vans have increased a lot, and tractors are just taking a small part of heavy trucks.

Part Two: Sales of heavy trucks from Jan. to May
Sales of heavy trucks decreased in May, which is seen as a hot-sales month. Although sales of heavy trucks were over 80,000 units, sales of trucks in June decreased clearly. Sales of vans and chassis were generally good, but sales of tractors kept decreasing since 2011.

Although sales of trucks in the first five months were decreasing, the total amounts were still comparatively high since the sales from last July. The only problem is that the sales decreasing started a little earlier.
Part Three: Sales of tractors in May is similar to that of last August
Sales of tractors were decreasing month after month, and sales of tractors were comparable to that of last August. Sales of tractors in March were similar to that of last year, apart from this month, sales of each month was less than last year.
Part Four: Major heavy truck players: sales of FAW down 30.66%
Sales of most major truck manufacturers were decreasing in May affected by the general decreasing markets. Sales of FAW decreased the most, and then it was Sinotruk. Dongfeng still ranked the first, and 99,812 trucks were sold out, up 2.76%; Sinotruk ranked the second, and its market shares decreased 0.93%; 76,272 FAW trucks were sold out, down 30.66%; 59,085 Shaanxi Auto trucks were purchased, up 12.36%; and 56,788 Foton trucks were sold out, up 15.29%.
In addition, market shares of JAC, Dayun and GAC-Nissan increased by 99.89%, 329.43%, and 315.32%.

Part Five: Sales in June and July: monthly sales may decrease to 65,000
It can be predict that sales of heavy trucks will continue to decrease in June and July, and sales of trucks in June or July may break 65,000 units for sales of single month. Sales of trucks in the first half year may take 60% of 2011 since the investment wave has passed and markets needs are stable.
