Shandong Heavy Industry: No more than 850,000 heavy trucks can be sold in 2012
www.chinatrucks.com: Tan Xiuqing, deputy general manager of Shandong Heavy Industry, was interviewed as saying that sales of heavy trucks will not surpass 850,000 units this year.
"Although sales of heavy trucks are optimistic in China in a long run, it's not possible to sell more than one million heavy trucks in the next three to five years, " said Mr. Tan.
Affected by European debt crisis, high inflation and transformation of economic growth in emerging economies, turmoils in North Africa and Middle East, the general environment is not good. Although China heavy trucks are still competitive in some developing countries, and our exports will also be affected by the sluggish European economy.
It is similar in China in terms of gloomy economy and transforming development mode.
Based on truck markets in some developed countries, sales of heavy trucks cannot increasing dramatically if heavy truck inventory reaches some level. Domestic logistics efficiency is rather low, and empty driving will be less if logistics efficiency can be largely improved.
Someone has estimated that annual output of China heavy trucks can reach two million to three million units, and that means China heavy truck can supply for the whole world.
As suggested by Mr. Tan., China heavy truck makers should pay more attentions on improving quality rather than increase production outputs.
