20 LNG Heavy Trucks from CAMC Heading to Thailand
www.chinatrucks.com. Under the sliding heavy truck market in 2012, CAMC seized the opportunity to further expand the LNG heavy truck market. Besides the growth in domestic market, CAMC also put efforts in the overseas markets and received breakthroughs. 20 LNG heavy trucks, which would be sold to Thailand, have been completed recently and would be shipped to Thailand soon.
As early as 2005, heavy trucks from CAMC have been exported to the South East Asian markets. However, due to low power of a foreign brand engine that has led to a maladjustment of the vehicle to the mountainous roads in Thailand and the long-period of delivery, high price and difficulty in acquiring parts, the sales was severely affected. Additionally, the convention of driving on the right in some South Eastern countries forced the manufacturers to offer customer made cabs, which has an impact on the export. Being faced with these problems, CAMC has taken proactive moves. As introduced by the person in charge of overseas department of CAMC, through years of improvement, the LNG engine products of domestic manufacturers have become more mature, meanwhile, plus the heated discussion on the fuel efficiency of heavy trucks, the LNG heavy truck market was rapidly expanded domestically.
As a net importer of oil, Thailand has always been seeking alternative energy sources. With abundant natural gas resources, gas powered vehicle are popular in Thailand and the Thai government has been promoting gas powered vehicle in recent years. Thanks to the high reliability and low manufacturing cost, commercial vehicles from China have showed competitive advantages. CAMC, who has paid great efforts in developing LNG heavy trucks, seized this opportunity. Over 2,000 LNG heavy trucks have been exported to Thailand and other South Eastern countries in the past few years.
