CAMC's First Range-Extended Heavy Truck Makes Southeast Asia Debut
CAMC has unveiled its G9 range-extended concrete mixer truck at the Malaysia Truck Show, marking the first time a Chinese-made range-extended heavy-duty truck has entered the Southeast Asian market. The debut signals CAMC’s expansion into overseas range-extended truck segments and introduces a new low-emission solution for regional logistics and construction transport.
Malaysia is a key market under the Belt and Road Initiative and is increasingly positioned as a front-runner for new energy vehicle adoption within ASEAN. Supported by government incentives, infrastructure investment, and updated industry regulations, the country has accelerated the shift toward greener transportation. Against this backdrop, the launch of CAMC’s range-extended heavy truck aligns with local policy direction and growing demand for cleaner commercial vehicles.

The Malaysia Truck Show, organized by the Malaysia Lorry Operators Association, is one of the country’s major commercial vehicle exhibitions. CAMC presented several export-oriented heavy truck models at the event. As the first range-extended heavy truck showcased in Southeast Asia, the G9 mixer truck attracted strong interest from industry visitors. A local logistics operator noted that CAMC trucks are recognized for their operating efficiency and reliability, and said the G9 model stood out for its design and energy-saving features.
The G9 range-extended mixer truck is based on a methanol-hydrogen electric platform and uses a diesel-powered range extender. It is equipped with an axial flux motor with an efficiency exceeding 97 percent. The system achieves a diesel-to-electric conversion rate of more than 4.2 kWh per liter, offering improved fuel economy in low-speed and complex operating conditions. The engine and range extender motor are designed as separate units to simplify replacement, while the maintenance-free range extender motor has a B10 life of up to 1.6 million kilometers.

The vehicle is also designed with driver comfort and practicality in mind. It features a spacious cab with a full floating suspension structure and an air-suspension seat to reduce fatigue during long operating hours. A three-step access system and extended handrails are designed to meet ergonomic requirements across different markets. Drawing on more than three decades of experience in concrete transport, CAMC has developed an integrated chassis and upper-structure design, delivering balanced performance in efficiency, safety, comfort, and intelligent operation.
Southeast Asia remains a priority market in CAMC’s overseas strategy. Through steady market development and consistent product performance, the company has established a growing presence in the region. With support from Remote New Energy Commercial Vehicle, CAMC is able to respond more precisely to customer needs and offer tailored solutions for different transport scenarios. In cooperation with overseas partners, the company has also expanded service networks to improve after-sales support and spare parts availability.
Currently, CAMC’s heavy-duty trucks have been exported to more than 60 countries and regions, including Eastern Europe, North Africa, Southeast Asia, and South America, with overseas sales continuing to grow.
The export of the G9 range-extended mixer truck represents another milestone in CAMC’s Southeast Asia expansion and highlights the increasing role of Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturers in international green transport initiatives. The company plans to further expand its global operations and deliver more efficient, low-emission, and intelligent transport solutions to overseas markets.
