World’s First Autonomous Container Truck Starts Operation in Zhuhai Port
On January 23rd, 2018, an autonomous container truck finished its first loading work in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, marking its first entry into port area.

In Zhuhai International Container Terminals (Gaolan) Limits, an autonomous container truck stands ready at the gantry crane operation area. This truck will travel to the specified location on its own according to the operation plan and driving program through control the steering wheel and detect the container, machinery, equipment and lighthouses etc.
The truck will leave off along the optimum route after receiving the command and carry the container put by gantry crane driver and stop at the travelling crane where the travelling crane driver will grasp the container away in 40m high and put it back to the vehicle.
The autonomous container truck was jointly developed by Zhuhai International Container Terminals (Gaolan) Limits and Shanghai Xijing info technology limits. According to CEO of Xijing, Tan Li, intelligent container truck not only effectively address the problems of inaccurate travelling line, blind spot at turning, driver fatigue and other security risks, but also cut labor cost.
The unveiling of intelligent container truck in port segment fully demonstrates the urgent needs for improved safety level, lowered labor cost and improved operation efficiency, and will advance the popularization of human intelligence technology in port industry. (www.chinatrucks.com)
