GEELY Delivers 500 Mechanol-powered Heavy Trucks in Shanxi
Geely New Energy Commercial Vehicles Group recently held a grand ceremony in Jinzhong to deliver 500 methanol heavy-duty trucks. Jinzhong City is one of the first pilot cities in the country to engage in methanol fuel and methanol vehicle application. In recent years, Jinzhong has taken methanol vehicles, methanol industry and methanol economy as the city's key project to promote the local economic transformation.

The 500 methanol heavy trucks were produced by Geely New Energy Commercial Vehicle at its production base in Jinzhong. Geely established the Shanxi New Energy Vehicle Company in Jinzhong City in 2011. The plant began producing methanol and pure electric vehicles in 2017. In June this year, Jinzhong production base roll off the first batch of methanol-powered trucks and now it has put more than 300 methanol heavy trucks into operation in Shanxi and other places.

Geely Automobile has been developing methanol vehicle technology since 2005 and has made breakthroughs in the production of methanol engines and components since then.With its self-developed core technology, Geely was the first company in the world to mass produce methanol-fuelled vehicles and the first company in China to obtain a production licence for methanol vehicles.
