BAIC FOTON Showcases Full Commercial Vehicle Portfolio at IAA 2026
BAIC FOTON is using IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover to showcase a broad range of commercial vehicles and core technologies as it expands its presence in the European market.
The company is displaying seven complete vehicles and six key components at the show, covering heavy-duty trucks, medium-duty trucks, light commercial vehicles, pickups, buses and special-purpose vehicles. The lineup includes battery-electric, hybrid and hydrogen fuel-cell models.
The exhibition also marks a major milestone for BAIC FOTON, with the company delivering its 13 millionth vehicle worldwide. The milestone vehicle is the FOTON GALAXUS 9, a heavy-duty truck that has completed real-world testing in Spain and is entering the European long-haul logistics market.

European strategy focuses on localization
At a press conference in Hannover, Liu Xuguang, executive vice president of BAIC FOTON, outlined the company’s European strategy.
BAIC FOTON has set a target for new-energy vehicles to account for 50% of total sales by 2030, while international sales are expected to represent 40% of the company’s business. Europe is positioned as a key market for the company’s international expansion and premium product strategy.

Under its “In Europe, For Europe” approach, BAIC FOTON is focusing on product adaptation, new-energy ecosystem development and local operations. The company is developing products around European regulations, road conditions and customer requirements, with battery-electric, hybrid and hydrogen fuel-cell technologies forming the core of its new-energy portfolio.
BAIC FOTON currently has sales networks in nearly 20 European markets and more than 300 service outlets across the region. It also operates a regional parts center in Germany and national parts warehouses in 17 European countries. The company plans to expand its coverage to major European markets by 2028.
The company also plans to establish a technology center in Europe and begin local vehicle assembly by 2028. Its German subsidiary, BROCK, will support the development of connected-vehicle services in the region.
CAVAN BEACON makes global debut
One of the main highlights at the show is the global debut of the CAVAN BEACON, a heavy-duty truck developed specifically for new-energy long-haul applications.

The BEACON is built on a dedicated platform designed to support both battery-electric and hydrogen power. Its architecture combines different cab configurations, e-axles, batteries and fuel-cell systems to support 15 vehicle variants.
The platform covers several energy pathways, including battery-electric, battery swapping, gaseous hydrogen and liquid hydrogen.
The battery-electric version supports up to 1.44 MW of charging power, with a claimed 20%-80% charging time of 18 minutes. Its driving range exceeds 600 km.
For energy efficiency, the BEACON uses an aerodynamic design with a drag coefficient of 0.28, scenario-based control strategies and an integrated predictive thermal management system. BAIC FOTON says these technologies can reduce overall energy consumption by 15%.

The 6x4 battery-electric version has energy consumption as low as 115 kWh per 100 km, while the 4x2 version reaches 105 kWh per 100 km. The 6x4 hydrogen fuel-cell version has hydrogen consumption as low as 7.6 kg per 100 km, with a driving range of more than 1,000 km.
The BEACON also features an ICA/HWP driver-assistance system with 22 functions, including adaptive cruise control, lane centering, automatic lane changing and assisted overtaking. BAIC FOTON says the system achieved a response success rate of more than 99% in abnormal driving scenarios during relevant tests. The vehicle is also designed to support future development toward Level 4 automated driving functions.
Inside the cab, the truck features a four-point floating suspension system, air-suspension seats, a 12.3-inch instrument display and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen. An AI-powered voice assistant is also available.
Seven vehicles and six core components
Beyond the BEACON and GALAXUS 9, BAIC FOTON is displaying the eGALAXUS D3, DAYSTAR, CAVAN C1, TUNLAND V9 PHEV and eAURORA.
The vehicles cover multiple commercial vehicle segments and energy technologies, including battery-electric, hybrid and hydrogen fuel-cell solutions. The CAVAN C1 has already entered commercial sales, while the GALAXUS 9 has completed real-world testing in Spain. Several other models are making their first public appearance in overseas markets.
The company is also displaying core components including heavy-duty power batteries, intelligent electronic control systems, light- and heavy-duty electric drive axles, vehicle control units and megawatt-level charging equipment.

The combination of complete vehicles and internally developed components highlights BAIC FOTON’s focus on developing both vehicle integration capabilities and core technologies as it expands internationally.
With its IAA 2026 lineup, BAIC FOTON is positioning Europe as an important part of its broader international strategy, with a focus on new-energy vehicles, localized products and services, and further investment in regional R&D and manufacturing.
