First Overseas-Market Karry X5 Rolls Off the Production Line
On October 29, the first international version of the new Karry X5 rolled off the production line at Chery Commercial Vehicle's Kaifeng plant in China. The mini truck is an important part of the company's overseas product lineup and is designed for markets in Latin America, Southeast Asia, Central Asia and Africa.
The rollout marks the Karry X5's transition from development to mass production and the start of production for Chery Commercial Vehicle's overseas mini-truck program.
At the rollout ceremony, Cui Jian, deputy general manager of the Overseas Business Division of Chery Holding Group, said the Karry X5 had been developed specifically for overseas markets from the beginning. Its development took into account the road conditions, terrain and operating needs of different regions.

He added that the first vehicle was just the beginning. Chery Commercial Vehicle will continue to work with global partners to provide products and services that meet the needs of customers in different markets.
Developed Specifically for Overseas Markets
Unlike models adapted from existing domestic vehicles, the Karry X5 was designed from the start for overseas markets and customers.

During development, Chery Commercial Vehicle considered the road conditions, terrain and operating needs of markets in Latin America, Southeast Asia, Central Asia and Africa. The goal was to make the vehicle better suited to local transport and delivery operations.
This approach also requires coordination between product development, procurement, manufacturing and sales from the early stages, helping ensure that the vehicle can meet the needs of different markets.
The Karry X5 reflects Chery Commercial Vehicle's "Customer First, Born Global" strategy in the mini-truck segment.
Designed for the Fuel-Powered Mini Truck Market
During the product presentation, Cai Yabing, deputy head of Chery Commercial Vehicle's Research and Development Institute, described the Karry X5 as a new-generation fuel-powered mini truck.

In markets such as Latin America, Southeast Asia, CIS countries and Africa, gasoline- and CNG-powered mini trucks remain important vehicles for urban logistics. According to the company, annual sales of mini trucks in these markets exceed 600,000 units.
The Karry X5 was developed to serve these markets and their transport needs.
The vehicle is 1,750 mm wide and has a 3.2-meter cargo bed. Its cabin is nearly 1.6 meters wide and features a 12.3-inch floating touchscreen with smartphone connectivity, providing space for both cargo and driver comfort.
For suburban deliveries, heavy-load transport and challenging road conditions, the Karry X5 uses a 2.8-tonne-class unibody platform. It has a rated payload of 1.5 tonnes.

The vehicle is powered by a 1.6L gasoline engine producing a maximum power output of 90 kW and peak torque of 158 N·m. Its rear axle ratio has also been optimized for heavy-load operations in overseas markets.
For safety, all versions come standard with dual airbags, ABS with EBD and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). An Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS) is available as an option.
These features are designed to meet the daily needs of mini-truck operators, with a focus on load capacity, power, driving comfort and safety.
Overseas Business Growth and New Product Plans
The launch of Karry X5 production comes as Chery Commercial Vehicle continues to expand its overseas business.
As of September 2026, Chery Group had achieved cumulative global sales of more than 20 million vehicles, with total exports exceeding 7 million units. The group has ranked first among Chinese passenger vehicle brands in exports for 23 consecutive years.
Chery Commercial Vehicle has also recorded strong export growth. According to Chinese customs data, its exports increased by 228.8% year on year in 2025. Its overseas business now covers more than 80 countries and regions.
Over the next three years, Chery Commercial Vehicle plans to launch more than 20 new 3.0-generation products, covering heavy-duty trucks, light trucks, pickups and vans.
The Karry X5 is the first model in the company's overseas mini-truck program to reach mass production. Its production rollout also provides experience for the manufacturing and overseas launch of future models.

Karry X5 Targets Global Markets
The first international Karry X5 rolling off the production line in Kaifeng marks an important step toward its entry into overseas markets.
Chery Commercial Vehicle plans to showcase the Karry X5 at the SIAM International Agricultural Show in Morocco. Other target markets and applications include transport in the Andes region of South America, urban deliveries in Vietnam, and community transport and agricultural operations in Southern Europe.
These markets reflect the different operating conditions and customer needs that the Karry X5 is designed to address.
Chery Commercial Vehicle will continue to work with global partners on product development, local market expansion and after-sales service. The company aims to provide commercial vehicles that better meet the needs of customers in different regions.
With the first international Karry X5 now off the production line, Chery Commercial Vehicle has taken another step toward expanding its global mini-truck business.
