IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 Preview: Stronger Chinese Brands Presence
IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 will return to Hanover from September 15 to 20, bringing together leading manufacturers, suppliers, technology companies, and logistics providers from around the world under the theme "We Deliver." With exhibition halls nearly fully booked months before the opening, this year's edition is expected to be one of the largest and most international in the event's history.
Organized by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), IAA TRANSPORTATION remains the world's leading exhibition for commercial vehicles and transport solutions. This year's event will place a strong focus on electrification, intelligent transportation, digital logistics, charging infrastructure, and software-defined vehicles.
Chinese Exhibitors Expand Beyond Vehicle Manufacturing
One of the biggest developments at IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 is the growing presence of Chinese companies.
Alongside commercial vehicle manufacturers, Chinese exhibitors are expanding into charging infrastructure, energy storage, autonomous driving, and intelligent mobility technologies, reflecting the industry's broader move toward a complete transportation ecosystem.
Major Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturers expected to exhibit include FAW Jiefang, SINOTRUK, Dongfeng, Foton, BYD, SANY, SuperPanther, Chery Commercial Vehicles, JAC Motors, MAXUS, and Skywell.
Chinese technology companies are also expected to showcase charging solutions, energy storage systems, and smart transportation technologies, highlighting China's growing role across the global commercial vehicle value chain.
Compared with previous editions, Chinese participation has expanded beyond complete vehicles to include a wider range of products and technologies supporting the transition toward zero-emission and connected transport.
Industry Leaders Gather in Hanover
IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 is expected to feature an extensive lineup of global manufacturers, including Daimler Truck, MAN Truck & Bus, Scania, Volvo Trucks, DAF Trucks, Ford Trucks, Kia, Renault Trucks, Mercedes-Benz Vans, Nissan, Toyota, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, and Stellantis ProOne, together with major suppliers, trailer manufacturers, and mobility technology companies.
According to the organizers, more than 70% of exhibitors are international, while over one-quarter are first-time participants, underscoring the exhibition's growing global appeal.
Electrification and Digital Technologies Take Center Stage
This year's exhibition will highlight the latest developments in battery-electric, hydrogen fuel cell, hybrid, and next-generation internal combustion technologies.
Visitors can also explore advances in connected vehicles, autonomous driving, AI-powered fleet management, software-defined commercial vehicles, and charging and hydrogen refueling infrastructure, as the industry continues its transition toward cleaner and smarter transportation.
The accompanying IAA Conference will bring together policymakers, vehicle manufacturers, suppliers, and industry experts to discuss fleet electrification, infrastructure development, artificial intelligence, digital logistics, and the future of commercial transportation.
Larger Test Drive Program
IAA Experience will once again offer visitors the opportunity to test the latest commercial vehicles.
More than 65 vehicles from 16 exhibitors are expected to participate in the official test drive program, with approximately 75% of the fleet consisting of battery-electric models. Demonstration routes will include both dedicated test tracks within the exhibition grounds and public roads, allowing visitors to experience new technologies under real operating conditions.
Several Chinese manufacturers are also expected to participate in the test drive program, reflecting the increasing competitiveness of Chinese commercial vehicles in international markets.
Looking Ahead
With stronger international participation, an expanded lineup of exhibitors, and a greater emphasis on electrification, intelligent mobility, and digital technologies, IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 is set to become one of the most influential commercial vehicle events of the year.
For Chinese manufacturers, the exhibition provides an important platform to showcase new products, technologies, and global ambitions while strengthening their presence in the European market.
