First Carbon Fiber Heavy Truck in China Debuts
www.chinatrucks.com. The first dumper with carbon fiber composite cab in China was completed in Nov. 2012. The vehicle has the length of 8.6 meters and the loading capacity of 50 tons. Dead load of the vehicle is 4.8 tons with a 29% drop in the cab weight over metal cab. This is the first success in the application domestic composite heavy truck cab, symbolizing the breakthroughs in the light weight technologies for trucks.
As the phased objective of the project, analysts presented 4 innovative moves of the vehicle.
1) The complete composite modeling, structural design and stress analysis system were built.
2) Advanced composite forming process and PDCPD material were adopted.
3) First time for the use of seamless combination of metal material and carbon fiber composite.
4) Successful production of large carbon fiber pultrusion material.
The light weight truck is the combination of light weight material, structural design and manufacturing technology. The manufacturer will improve the project and invest in the R&D of semi-trailer, cement mixer and other light weight SPV.
