XCMG Leads the Next Wave of Global Intelligent Manufacturing
www.chinatrucks.com: As the world enters Industry 4.0, global industrial manufacturing is undergoing a paradigm shift from traditional make-to-stock mass production to made-to-order customization. XCMG has already taken steps to adopt intelligent manufacturing technology as a prelude to Customer-to-Manufactory (C2M) business model replacing traditional manual production line.
How does XCMG implement intelligent manufacturing?
Intelligent manufacturing is more than replacing human workers, it is computers learning algorithms and making decentralized decisions to automated machines. Inside the smart factories of XCMG, the full adoption of MES (Manufacturing Execution System) can be seen throughout the production lines. With all key computerized facilities connected to the XCMG IoT system, the MES acts as the brain of the factory, mastering every stage in the production chain and allocating work tasks in real time, from logistics, inventory, production, to quality control.
Implementing automated coordination across all production stages allows XCMG to distribute resources in a more flexible manner, which leads to better enterprise resource planning (ERP) and making made-to-order customization possible.
How does an XCMG intelligent factory look like?
Automatic guided vehicles (AGV) can be seen everywhere in the XCMG factories. In fact, many of the key production commands are made through the MES to direct computerized equipment, such as mobile robots, in order to carry out a more efficient production scheme. Many processes, including welding and painting, are done entirely by automated systems, ensuring higher and more stable product quality.
What benefits does intelligent manufacturing bring to XCMG?
The integration of MES and ERP in our factories actualizes automatic production management and control, which has brought a significant boost in productivity to XCMG.
Inside the production plant of large-tonnage loaders, production processes, logistics of materials, and quality assurance are fully automated. With the intelligent systems, we can scale down the workforce to 1,500 labors. The smart factory can also now produce more than 46,000 machines yearly, far more than 17,000 machines made in a traditional factory.
Continue to leading the trend
To stay ahead in the industry, XCMG plans on establishing new production units worldwide, including a US$150-million investment in setting up an intelligent manufacturing base in India. It is expected that the first intelligent manufacturing facility will come into operation by the end of this year, producing machines for Schwing Stetter, a German company which XCMG holds a majority stake.
XCMG is an enterprise with profound history, and never hesitates to embrace change. In this new era, XCMG pledges to become the global pioneer of intelligent manufacturing and continue to offer products that best suit the customers’ needs.
