Tan Xuguang: Weichai-Kamaz Joint Venture New Factory to Go into Operation
At 11:00 on June 8, Tan Xuguang visited the new factory of Weichai-Kamaz Joint Venture in Yaroslavl Oblast, which is about to be put into operation. The project is a cooperation project witness by the leaders of China and Russia. Tan Xuguang proposed to start trial production at the end of this year.

Tan Xuguang was warmly received by officials of the Yaroslav Oblast government. They offered bread and salt to Tan Xuguang in accordance with the most distinguished welcome ceremonies in the area.
On September 11, 2018, during the 4th Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Weichai Group and Kamaz Group signed the strategic cooperation framework agreement under the witness of President Xi Jinping and President Putin. On May 14, 2019, the two sides announced the official launch of the project in Beijing. On June 7, 2019, during the 23rd St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Tan Xuguang and Kamaz General Manager Sergei Kogogin signed the registration documents for the establishment of the joint venture.
Weichai cooperates with Kamaz in a wide range of space and has good prospects for cooperation. The Kamaz Group has a 50-year history of heavy-duty vehicle manufacturing with an annual production volume of more than 40,000 units. It is an impressive "national business card" for the Russian automotive industry. At the same time, Weichai Group is a large-scale state-owned enterprise with a history of 73 years. It owns gold industry chain resources such as heavy trucks, engines, gearboxes and axles. The global industrial layout is perfect. With its deep technical strength, it has begun to emerge in the international arena. The two sides have strong alliances and complementary advantages, setting a new benchmark for Sino-Russian enterprise cooperation.

In recent years, Weichai has accelerated the pace of “going out” and has explored international manufacturing cooperation and local manufacturing models in countries such as India and Belarus. Russia is China's important economic and trade cooperation partner. In order to promote the rapid development of joint venture projects, Tan Xuguang carefully listened to the plan for the construction of the new factory, and proposed to start trial production at the end of this year to meet the entrustment and expectation of Chinese and Russian leaders. This project will add more colors to the friendship between the two countries and also serve as an important part of the “Belt and Road”. After long-term cultivation, the Weichai brand has won the favor of Russian customers. With the new factory, Weichai-Kamaz joint venture will inject new vitality into the Russian automotive industry.
