Weichai's High-End Engine Digital Factory Achieves Full Production
On June 12th, the Weichai High-end Engine Digital Factory, located within the brand-new generation engine digital industrial park of Weichai, celebrated its full production line commencement along with the rollout of its 15,000th engine. Tan Xuguang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Shandong Heavy Industry Group, as well as Chairman of Weichai Group, together with the employees, witness this historic moment together. Tan Xuguang remarked that major projects of Weichai should be completed, put into operation, and demonstrate effectiveness at the earliest possible time, further unleashing the vigorous potential of Shandong's high-end equipment manufacturing industry.
According to Wang Jian, Executive President and Manufacturing Director of Weichai Power, the project, initiated in May 2021, commenced production in November 2023, with a total investment of 10 billion RMB and covering an area of 500 mu. Among these, the engine factory covers 130,000 square meters, making it the largest steel structure plant in the province and capable of producing 200,000 high-end engines annually. Presently, it boasts digitalized workshops, intelligent manufacturing lines, and a smart logistics center.
This factory stands as the world's first digitally unmanned engine plant within the industry, boasting a processing automation rate of 100%, assembly automation rate of 80%, and a 100% automation rate for component logistics distribution. The key processes of this production line have achieved 100% online inspection, ensuring the entire manufacturing process is green and low-carbon.
The project is constructed based on the vision of green and low-carbon production and the principles of "cost priority, low carbon priority and self-reliance". Photovoltaic panels are installed on the roof of the plant, while self-generation equipment such as SOFCs, gas turbines and power meters are utilized to generate electricity. Various energy sources, such as energy storage and waste heat recovery, are utilized in a complementary manner. Through an information system, various energy data are exchanged and regulated in real time, realizing self-sufficiency in energy consumption in the industrial park and striving to achieve 'zero carbon' emissions."
The key to excelling in high-end equipment manufacturing lies in product processes. It's reported that Weichai has benchmarked against the most advanced international processes, with key process parameters being measured in real-time and automatically uploaded. A fully covered 5G network enables zero-delay control of AGV trolley, while automatic quick-change grippers facilitate rapid switching between different products in seconds. This comprehensive approach realizes flexible, agile, digital, and intelligent production.
