JAC Unveils China’s First Hybrid Pickup with Over 1000Nm Torque
On April 23, the 2025 Auto Shanghai officially kicked off. JAC Group brought a range of new vehicles to the show, including the debut of its first plug-in hybrid pickup — the Hunter PHEV. It’s also the first hybrid pickup in China with system torque over 1000Nm. With its bold look, powerful hybrid system, and strong performance, this model offers a new energy solution for pickup users and raises the bar for value in its class.

This year’s Auto Shanghai focuses on innovation and smart, green technologies. JAC Group signed several new partnerships at the event to support the development of intelligent new energy vehicles. As China pushes toward carbon goals and fuel prices rise, more users are turning their attention to new energy pickups. Plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), which offer both fuel and electric drive with no range worries, are becoming a popular choice.
JAC Pickup has been actively expanding in global markets, focusing on better technology and innovation. The launch of Hunter PHEV shows this progress. It keeps the strength and off-road capabilities of a traditional pickup, while its hybrid system helps cut fuel use and emissions. Whether it’s for work, family, outdoor adventures, or special industry use, this pickup fits many needs and marks a big step toward greener pickups.

The Hunter PHEV features a bold front design inspired by traditional Chinese elements, with “Hunter Eye” LED turn signals, split headlights, and stylish details like a blue JAC logo, new wheels, and a sturdy rear rack. Inside, the blue-gray color scheme, 64-color ambient lighting, and 10.25-inch digital dashboard add a modern and high-tech feel. It’s a nice blend of strength and style.
This is China’s first pickup to use a 4-speed DHT with a 2.0T hybrid engine. It runs on a P2.5 + P4 hybrid system, and has front and rear motors plus a 31.2kWh battery. It supports multiple drive modes — pure electric, range extender, fuel, or hybrid — to easily handle city traffic, long highway trips, and off-road adventures.
The system offers 380kW of total power and 1000Nm of torque. It can go over 100km on electric power alone, and more than 1000km in total with a full tank and full battery. Fuel use is as low as 1.6L/100km, and just 8.1L/100km when driving without battery charge. It’s great for daily use and longer trips, helping users save money. It’s also quiet and smooth to drive, with smart features and comfort that make it family-friendly too.

The Hunter PHEV fits all kinds of uses — from farming, construction, and delivery, to daily commuting, camping, fishing, and off-roading. It’s also ready for special industries like electric power, aviation, highways, and fire rescue. With “zero fuel” for short trips and “zero stress” for long ones, this is a smart and practical choice for anyone looking for a capable new energy pickup.
You’re welcome to visit the JAC booth at Auto Shanghai 2025 (Hall 5.2H, Booth 5B16) to test drive the Hunter PHEV. Join our on-site activities for a chance to win a special Hunter camping lamp and more surprises!
