Weichai Posts 14% Revenue Growth in 2025 Amid Challenging Market Conditions
China’s commercial vehicle sector faced a difficult and uncertain market environment in 2025. Domestic competition intensified, and global market conditions remained complex, putting pressure on vehicle manufacturers and component suppliers both at home and abroad.

Despite these challenges, Weichai Group delivered solid growth. The company reported operating revenue of RMB 355 billion in 2025, up 14% year-on-year and a new record high. The result positions Weichai among the leading performers in China’s commercial vehicle industry during a period of broad market pressure.
The company attributed growth to several factors, including ongoing technological development, improved coordination across its industrial chain, steady gains in vehicle and powertrain sales, expansion of new business segments, and rising export revenues. In particular, advances across Weichai’s full-range powertrain portfolio were key drivers of both sales and revenue growth.
At the 2026 Business Conference of Shandong Heavy Industry Weichai Group, the company presented a full commercial vehicle powertrain lineup featuring 150 products. The portfolio includes the NG4.0 natural gas engine platform, H-series and T-series engines, and a range of new energy solutions, such as a chassis-mounted battery for heavy-duty trucks, a 140 kWh high-capacity battery, and a solid oxide fuel cell.
The chassis-mounted battery, designed for heavy trucks, offers 600 kWh of capacity, a system cycle life of up to 4,500 cycles, and the ability to charge at temperatures as low as –20°C. These specifications address key industry challenges, including driving range, durability, and performance in harsh operating conditions.
Weichai has also upgraded its conventional powertrains. The WP5H engine delivers higher output within the same displacement while reducing fuel consumption by 2% compared with competitors. Enhancements in materials and manufacturing processes have also lowered failure rates and operating noise, demonstrating the company’s continuous optimization across its product line.

At a recent provincial conference on technology and innovation ecosystem development in Shandong, two Weichai technologies were recognized among the top ten innovation achievements of state-owned enterprises. One was a breakthrough in methanol engine technology, addressing industry challenges such as oil emulsification and low-temperature cold starts. The other was a high-efficiency diesel engine with thermal efficiency reaching 53.09%, setting a world record for the fourth consecutive time.
Weichai’s technological advancements and expanded powertrain portfolio have strengthened its position in both domestic and international markets. With product leadership and a technology-driven approach, the company has achieved strong growth in a challenging year and is positioned to respond to future market recovery.
