GAC LINGCHENG Makes Global Debut at IAA Transportation 2026

GAC LINGCHENG, the new-energy commercial vehicle platform of GAC Group, made its debut at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, Germany.

Under the theme “Delivering The Future Together,” GAC LINGCHENG presented its latest products, technologies and ecosystem partnerships for new-energy heavy-duty and light-duty commercial vehicles.

In the heavy-duty vehicle segment, GAC LINGCHENG showcased its cooperation with autonomous driving company Pony.ai and battery-swapping provider Aulton New Energy. The companies presented solutions based on the T9, combining L4 autonomous driving with battery swapping.

In the light-duty segment, GAC LINGCHENG's new brand MONTX made its overseas debut with two concept vehicles, the P10 and V10. MONTX also introduced its new vehicle architecture and a global user co-creation program. The production SMILODON Pro pickup truck was also displayed at the show.

The debut marks another step in GAC LINGCHENG's plan to expand its new-energy commercial vehicle business worldwide.

Nearly 20 Years in Commercial Vehicles

GAC LINGCHENG grew out of the long-running GAC Hino joint venture and has nearly 20 years of experience in the commercial vehicle industry. During this time, it has built experience in vehicle development, manufacturing and quality management.

As GAC Group's only commercial vehicle platform, GAC LINGCHENG uses the group's capabilities in R&D, manufacturing, supply chain and global resources to develop commercial vehicles for the new-energy and intelligent vehicle era.

The global commercial vehicle industry is now going through major changes, while new-energy commercial vehicles are entering a new period of growth.

GAC LINGCHENG reported a 205% year-on-year increase in sales in the first half of 2026.

The company plans to further expand overseas by using GAC Group's sales and service network covering 110 countries and regions.

Its global strategy covers not only vehicle development and manufacturing, but also autonomous driving, energy supply and other areas. The company is moving from simply exporting vehicles to building a broader global ecosystem covering vehicles, technologies, energy and services.

GAC LINGCHENG has also established a two-part business structure covering heavy-duty and light-duty commercial vehicles.

Its heavy-duty business focuses on new-energy heavy trucks, while its light-duty business uses the new MONTX brand to explore new vehicle categories, applications and customer needs in global markets.

Open Partnerships for Commercial Vehicle Applications

GAC LINGCHENG is also building its business through partnerships with companies in different parts of the commercial vehicle industry.

In autonomous driving, the company is working with Pony.ai to advance the commercial application of L4 autonomous driving technology for commercial vehicles.

In energy supply, it is working with Aulton New Energy to develop more efficient battery-swapping solutions.

The goal is to combine vehicle technology, autonomous driving and energy services into a single solution and bring these technologies into real-world commercial operations.

For commercial vehicles, technology ultimately needs to improve operating efficiency and reduce costs. With the T9 as the platform, GAC LINGCHENG is combining new-energy vehicle technology with L4 autonomous driving and battery swapping for real logistics applications.

T9 Robotruck Combines L4 Autonomous Driving with Electric Technology

The T9 Robotruck is equipped with Pony.ai's fourth-generation L4 autonomous driving system for trucks and GAC LINGCHENG's fully redundant steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire chassis.

The vehicle combines electric vehicle technology, autonomous driving and vehicle systems to support autonomous freight transportation with a focus on safety, reliability, lower operating costs and energy efficiency.

The T9 Robotruck uses Pony.ai's automotive-grade autonomous driving system, with 9 LiDAR sensors, 3 millimeter-wave radars and 13 cameras.

Compared with the previous-generation system, hardware costs have been reduced by 70%, while autonomous driving transportation costs per ton-kilometer have fallen by about 30%.

The system is designed for high-frequency applications such as trunk logistics, dedicated logistics routes and port transportation.

He Xing, Vice President of Pony.ai and General Manager of its Truck Business Unit, said the global launch of the T9 Robotruck will help move autonomous trucks from mass production toward large-scale commercial operation.

T9 Battery-Swap Version Can Be Recharged in 3 to 5 Minutes

GAC LINGCHENG also presented a battery-swap version of the T9.

The truck is equipped with an electric drive axle and a 603 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. It offers a maximum range of 475 km and energy consumption as low as 1.2 kWh/km.

Using Aulton's battery-swapping system, the battery can be replaced in about 3 to 5 minutes.

The shorter energy-supply time can reduce vehicle waiting time and increase vehicle availability and operating hours, helping improve fleet efficiency and returns.

Qu Wengeng, General Manager of Aulton's Overseas Business Division, said charging and battery swapping can serve different commercial applications.

“Vehicles used for high-frequency operations are highly sensitive to efficiency and cost,” Qu said. “For fixed routes and high-frequency commercial transportation where vehicle utilization is especially important, battery swapping offers unique value.”

The solution is based on cooperation between three companies.

GAC LINGCHENG provides vehicle development and manufacturing, as well as technologies including batteries, electric drive systems, electronic controls and thermal management.

Pony.ai provides L4 autonomous driving technology, while Aulton provides the battery-swapping and energy-supply system.

Together, the three companies are developing an integrated solution covering vehicles, autonomous driving assistance and energy supply, with the aim of bringing new technologies into commercial operations more quickly.

MONTX Explores New Light-Duty Commercial Vehicle Applications

MONTX is GAC LINGCHENG's new light-duty commercial vehicle brand. The brand is designed to expand into new product categories and reach new groups of users around the world.

At IAA Transportation 2026, MONTX presented the P10 and V10 concept vehicles.

The two models represent the brand's ideas for future light-duty commercial vehicles and new ways to use them.

The MONTX P10 is positioned as an “all-domain mobility platform.” It is designed for explorers, outdoor workers and users operating in challenging environments.

The vehicle features four-wheel distributed drive, an AI campsite assistant and a smart towing system. These features are designed to help the vehicle handle difficult terrain and different operating conditions.

The P10 is aimed at applications such as remote-area exploration, scientific research and off-road travel.

The MONTX V10 is positioned as an “all-domain mobile living and working space.” It is designed for digital nomads, creators and people who travel and live on the road.

Its features include a modular interior, a sliding steering-wheel system with dual cabins and an off-grid self-sustaining system.

The V10 is designed to support different activities, including working, resting, socializing and traveling. The vehicle is therefore positioned not only as a means of transportation, but also as a mobile workspace and living space.

The two concept vehicles show how MONTX is exploring new product categories and applications for global users.

New ADAA Architecture Supports Different Vehicles and Applications

MONTX also introduced its new ADAA (All-Domain Adaptive Architecture) at IAA Transportation 2026.

The architecture is built around three key features: native multi-energy capability, a native body-on-frame structure and native adaptive intelligence.

ADAA is designed to support different energy types, vehicle forms and applications on a single architecture.

This approach can improve product development efficiency and allow MONTX to respond more quickly to different requirements in global markets.

It will also support the brand as it develops new vehicle categories, applications and international markets.

MONTX also launched its global “MONTX Makers” user co-creation program, with the concept “Ideas in. Drive out.”

The program is designed to involve users earlier in product definition and development. Instead of only using the final products, users can take part in shaping future vehicles.

By connecting real-world user needs with mass-production capabilities, MONTX aims to turn its user-focused approach into actual products.

Participants in the program may receive “MONTX Pioneer Co-Creator” recognition, invitations to global brand events and exclusive owner benefits.

SMILODON Pro Expands into Latin America and the Middle East

Alongside its concept vehicles, MONTX displayed the production SMILODON Pro pickup truck.

The model is designed for current global market needs, with a focus on cargo capacity, driving comfort and flexibility across different applications.

SMILODON Pro has already entered markets in Central and South America and the Middle East.

The company plans to expand the model into about 30 countries this year, further extending GAC LINGCHENG's global commercial vehicle business.

From Global Products to a Global Ecosystem

GAC LINGCHENG's debut at IAA Transportation 2026 marks another step in its global expansion.

The company plans to continue strengthening its vehicle development and manufacturing capabilities while working with partners around the world in autonomous driving, energy, technology and services.
