Great Wall Motor Company to export 3,300 pickups to Libya
Great Wall Motor Company (GWM) has won an overseas government procurement order to supply 3,300 pickups, according to news from GWM's headquarters, located in Baoding, Hebei Province.
The vehicles will be loaded onto a vessel in the Tianjin Port and shipped to Libya.
In February this year, GWM signed a procurement order for pickups with the Libyan government to supply a total of 3,300 units for over 200 million yuan.
The first batch of 1,000 pickups will arrive in the Benghazi Port at the end of this month.
The company is stepping up production of the remaining 2,300 units and expects to deliver these vehicles to the Libyan government in June this year.
These vehicles, which consist mainly of the Deer series pickup, will service Libyan governmental departments including the departments of energy, electricity, medical care and sanitation, as well as traffic and transportation.
GWM has already exported vehicles to more than 120 countries and regions. With outstanding product performance and excellent after sales service, it has established a sound brand image in the global market.
In May 2008, GWM also became the first Chinese auto producer to become a procurement supplier for the UN.
Presently, GWM's technicians have gone to Libya in order to assist the local government in technical training guidance and to develop after sales service.
