Great Wall Motor has four models approved by EU
The UK transport ministry presented the Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) certificate of the European union to Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor on September 8, giving its four models free access to the EU market, xinhuanet.com reported .
The four approved vehicle models of Great Wall Motor are the Florid, Coolbear, Hover5 and Wingle5. It is the first time that a Chinese-developed vehicle brand has got the EU approval for free sale in the EU countries.
The company said that the EU approval for its vehicles, conducted by the UK transport ministry, had taken one year. It was a complex, strict process, which included 48 testing items related to the active safety, passive safety, environmental protection, and others.
Great Wall Motor aims to boost its global sales growth. The EU's WVTA is the highest-standard global certification for vehicles that has been ever granted to this Chinese carmaker.
With the EU's WVTA certificate, Great Wall Motor plans to expand its market share in the EU countries by promoting its brand image, establishing local sales network and introducing new vehicle models.
Great Wall Motor is a leading exporter of Chinese vehicles. Its exported vehicles are mostly SUVs and pickups.
