Shortage of used trucks affecting US market
www.chinatrucks.com: Used truck sales in the US were up 9% in June over May's lackluster levels, but the market continues to cope with a shortage of available inventory, ACT Research has reported.
On a year-to-date basis, the used truck market is down 6% compared to its 2010 sales pace, concludes the State of the Industry: US Classes 3-8 Used Trucks report.
"Used truck mileage continues to edge up, in response to fleets holding onto their equipment longer," said Steve Tam, vice-president, commercial vehicle sector with ACT. "The market is still awaiting some relief to the shortage of sellable inventory as well as upward price pressures. Improving new truck sales will result in increased trade-ins, and should provide some relief to the market."
