Sales of used trucks slow in US
www.chinatrucks.com: US sales of used Classes 3-8 trucks continued a summer slump in August, with volumes dropping 3% from July.
Volumes fell in the auction and wholesale markets, but gained ground in the retail market, ACT Research reported in its most recent State of the Industry: US Classes 3-8 Used Trucks report.
Year-to-date volumes for used Class 8 trucks were down 7.4% from the same period a year ago.
"Part of the softness can be attributed to vacation malaise," said Steve Tam, vice-president, commercial vehicle sector with ACT. "However, the industry continues to be challenged by lack of inventory, particularly with respect to late model, low mileage units."
