MAN LGS—A Trustworthy Assistant in Safe
www.chinatrucks.com: MAN always advocates high-efficiency logistics delivery. The high efficiency not only lies in the high quality of truck and the excellent perforce, but also the design about safety level. In other words, the driver can enhance the safety level of driving with good driving habits. The advanced design of truck can also help the driver drive safely, and provide reliable protection in accidents. This is the positive safety and passive safety which are normally talked.
MAN makes deliberate considerations about the safety design of truck. It makes a lot of trial test on the design of positive safety and passive safety to obtain better safety protection. MAN truck also provides multiple advanced systems to guard for the safety in driving aiding. And the LGS is one of the advances systems.
LGS means that it can help driver to guarantee the driving in lane and avoid the accidents caused by derail of trucks. The camera of LGS on MAN trucks installed at the back of the wind shielding glass can clearly get and track the lane marks, and obtain the position of truck to lane mark with the system computation. LGS will deliver sound to alarm the driver in derail caused by the un-concentration of the driver. The sound alarm will help the driver to make correction in time and effectively lower reduce the accidents.
Intelligent Controlling Effective Alarming
The LGS will be activated automatically when the driving speed exceeds 60 KM/h. The LGS will deliver the alarming sign via the loudspeaker when the truck pass the lane mark line without turning on the direction-turning lights. The LGS will use different alarming strategies according to various driving speed. It will alarm when wheels touch the inner side of the lane mark line and the driving speed is slower than 75 KM/h. And it will alarm automatically when wheels pass the outer side of the lane mark line and the driving speed is faster than 75 KM/h.
MAN produced some conceptual camera on the basis of camera considering that the driver cannot see some areas in the truck directly, i.e. the referred dead zone. Such as the lane-changing assistant used on multi-lane roads. Two cameras are installed on each side of the truck. One camera can see the backwards and the other is wide-angle camera which is used to track the area adjacent to the cockpit. This kind of camera can be compatible with trucks, passenger cars, small cars and motorbikes.
