SANY Delivers Five SET150S Mining Trucks to Akyem Gold Mine in Ghana
SANY has delivered five SET150S large-tonnage electric wheel mining trucks to the Akyem Gold Mine operated by Zijin Mining in Ghana. The units were assembled locally by SANY West Africa, marking a further step in supporting the mine’s transition toward greener operations.
Akyem is one of the largest gold mines in Ghana, with a processing capacity of 8.5 million tons per year and annual gold output of around 10 tons. The mine is scheduled to gradually shift to underground operations in 2028 and is expected to remain in service until 2042.
Zijin Mining is currently advancing the digitalization and decarbonization of the site. The deployment of SANY’s hybrid large-tonnage mining trucks is seen as a key measure to maintain stable production while reducing carbon emissions.

The SET150S features a diesel-electric hybrid powertrain and an intelligent energy management system. It delivers stable and reliable performance under demanding conditions, while enabling energy recovery to improve efficiency. Field data shows fuel savings of more than 14%, helping lower both operating costs and emissions.
To enhance after-sales support, SANY West Africa has established an on-site consignment spare parts warehouse at the Akyem mine. This is expected to shorten response times, improve equipment uptime, and support continuous and efficient operations.
Looking ahead, SANY plans to further expand its presence in overseas markets and accelerate the deployment of large-tonnage mining trucks such as the SET150S. The company aims to support the global mining industry’s shift toward more efficient and lower-carbon operations.
