Foton Enters Suriname Market
Foton has officially entered the Suriname market following a brand launch event recently held in the country, marking a further expansion of the Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer’s presence in Central America and the Caribbean region.
The launch represents another step in Foton’s global growth strategy as the company continues strengthening its overseas sales and service network. By working with local partners, Foton aims to provide commercial vehicle solutions and after-sales support tailored to the transportation and logistics needs of the Suriname market.

Foton, China’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, recorded overseas sales of more than 160,000 units in 2025. The company currently operates in more than 140 countries and regions worldwide, supported by over 1,200 overseas sales and service outlets. Foton has also established industrial operations in markets including Brazil, Thailand and South Africa.
For Suriname, Foton plans to introduce a full range of commercial vehicles, covering heavy-duty trucks, medium-duty trucks, light-duty trucks, mini trucks, vans and pickup trucks. The company also plans to offer electric vehicle models as part of its local product strategy.
Alongside vehicle sales, Foton said it will focus on after-sales service, spare parts supply and technical support to help local customers improve operational efficiency and lower maintenance concerns.
Wang Hexiang, Regional Manager of Foton Overseas Central America Region, said the company sees long-term growth potential in the Suriname market.

“Foton products are recognized for their durability, practicality and strong value,” Wang said. “We hope to work closely with local partners to expand in both the commercial and personal vehicle markets and provide better products and services for local customers.”
Lin Ji, Chinese Ambassador to Suriname, attended the event and welcomed Foton’s official entry into the market. Speaking at the launch ceremony, Ambassador Lin said the cooperation between Foton and local partners would bring high-quality commercial vehicle products and services to Suriname.

He also noted that 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Suriname, adding that Foton’s market entry reflects the growing economic and trade ties between the two countries.
Foton said it will continue supporting local partners through product introduction, marketing, technical training, after-sales service and spare parts supply while advancing its localized development strategy in the region.
