Foton Showcases Heavy-Duty Trucks at West African Mining & Power Expo in Ghana
Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer Foton used the 2026 West African Mining & Power Expo in Ghana to showcase its heavy-duty truck portfolio as it seeks to expand its presence in one of the region's fastest-growing industrial markets.
Held in Accra, the annual event brought together more than 250 exhibitors and over 6,000 industry professionals from more than 25 countries, serving as a key platform for companies involved in mining, energy, construction, and transportation.

Foton participated alongside its local dealer network, displaying a range of heavy-duty vehicles aimed at mining, infrastructure, and logistics applications. The lineup included AUMAN dump trucks and tractor units equipped with powertrains supplied by Cummins and Yuchai.

The company said the vehicles have been developed to meet the operating requirements commonly found across West Africa, where mining projects, infrastructure development, and long-haul transportation often involve challenging road conditions and heavy payloads.

During the three-day exhibition, Foton met with fleet operators, project contractors, and industry stakeholders to discuss transportation requirements and vehicle solutions for mining and construction operations. The company reported growing interest from customers seeking heavy-duty transport equipment for large-scale industrial projects.

The exhibition comes as Foton continues to strengthen its position in Ghana, one of its key markets in West Africa. The company has expanded cooperation with local partners while increasing investment in sales and aftersales support across the country.
According to Foton, its medium- and heavy-duty truck business in Ghana recorded year-on-year growth of 360% in the first half of 2026. Demand has been particularly strong in the dump truck segment, supported by activity in the mining and infrastructure sectors.

Ghana remains one of West Africa's most important mining economies, with continued investment in gold production, energy projects, and transportation infrastructure creating demand for heavy commercial vehicles.

Foton said it plans to further develop its dealer and service network across the region while expanding its heavy-duty truck offering for customers in mining, construction, power generation, and logistics.
As competition intensifies among global commercial vehicle manufacturers in Africa, the company sees West Africa as a strategic growth market and an important part of its broader international expansion plans.
