Foton GALAXUS R5 Makes Its Debut in Vietnam

Foton has introduced the GALAXUS R5 to the Vietnamese market, adding a new model to its commercial vehicle lineup in the country.

The truck made its public debut on July 30 at Hall 1 of the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City.

The GALAXUS R5 is designed for long-haul logistics operations in Vietnam, where trucks typically cover long distances and operate on a frequent basis. The model brings together a range of features covering operating efficiency, safety, driver comfort and after-sales support.

Vietnam’s economy has continued to grow in recent years. In the first half of 2026, major infrastructure projects helped boost activity in the commercial vehicle market, while demand for long-haul transportation continued to grow.

For operators, long-distance and frequent use puts a premium on vehicle efficiency, durability, safety and service support. Foton has developed the GALAXUS R5 with these requirements in mind, drawing on its global R&D and manufacturing resources.

Built for Long-Haul Operations

The GALAXUS R5 uses a high-strength steel frame with 700L and 750L rolled steel frame sections. The frame combines load-carrying strength with a focus on weight reduction.

The chassis is protected by a second anti-corrosion coating, while key fasteners use upgraded materials. These measures are intended to improve durability and help reduce maintenance needs over time.

Inside the cab, a 10-inch central display provides Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, smartphone connectivity and voice recognition. A four-camera surround-view system is also available as an option.

Safety and Comfort for Long-Distance Driving

The GALAXUS R5 features a high-strength shield-type body structure, with high-strength steel accounting for 69% of the body.

The truck is fitted with pre-tensioned seat belts, while lane departure warning and forward collision warning are available as options.
 

The vehicle has undergone EMC and wind-tunnel testing, along with testing in high-temperature, low-temperature and high-altitude conditions.

For drivers spending long hours on the road, the GALAXUS R5 comes with air suspension, an ergonomic seat and a wide sleeper berth.

After-Sales Support for Fleet Operators

Foton is offering up to four years of warranty coverage for newly purchased vehicles.

For customers buying 10 or more new vehicles in a single order, the company can provide on-site service and driver training. This is intended to help fleets get their vehicles into operation sooner.

The support network includes designated service stations and dedicated service contacts. During the warranty period, customers can receive free on-site service for quality-related problems, along with 24/7 support.

The launch expands Foton’s product range and service coverage in Vietnam as the company continues to adapt its commercial vehicles to local market requirements.

Foton said it will continue to develop products and services for the Vietnamese logistics market and support customers in Vietnam and other Southeast Asian markets.
