Dongfeng Accelerates Southeast Asia Expansion as First Locally Built Truck Rolls Off Production Line
Dongfeng is stepping up its presence in Southeast Asia as its first locally built vehicle rolled off a production line in the region on September 26.
The milestone came during a two-day event held from September 25 to 26, which included Dongfeng’s 2026 Southeast Asia Regional Business Meeting, the first vehicle rollout at its local plant and a new-product showcase.
Partners from Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Pakistan and the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions of China attended the event. They discussed plans for the Southeast Asian market and witnessed the first vehicle built at the local plant.

Stronger sales and deeper local operations
Dongfeng held its 2026 Southeast Asia Regional Business Meeting on September 25.
Since the beginning of this year, Dongfeng’s medium- and heavy-duty truck sales in Southeast Asia have increased 188% year on year, showing strong growth in the regional market.
Yang Tao, deputy general manager of Dongfeng Motor Industry International Co., Ltd., said Southeast Asia is a market that requires a long-term approach.
Dongfeng plans to build long-term cooperation with local partners by focusing on customer needs, partner profitability and stronger local brand operations.
The company also plans to improve its products and services based on customers’ actual operating conditions. The goal is to help customers reduce operating costs and improve efficiency.
At the same time, Dongfeng will combine its product and technology capabilities with the local market experience of its partners to expand its business in Southeast Asia.
During the meeting, executives from Dongfeng’s overseas medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicle business introduced plans for regional marketing, product development, sales network management, after-sales services and spare-parts supply.
Dongfeng also presented four awards at the event: the Sales Leadership Award, Operations Benchmark Award, Breakthrough Growth Award and Service Excellence Award. The awards recognized partners for their performance in sales, channel development, market expansion and after-sales service.

First vehicle rolls off local production line
On September 26, the first complete vehicle rolled off Dongfeng’s local production line in Southeast Asia.

The event marks an important step in Dongfeng’s overseas expansion and brings its cooperation with local Southeast Asian partners into a new stage.
The local plant is an important part of Dongfeng’s global strategy. Local production is expected to bring vehicles closer to customers and market needs while shortening delivery times and reducing cross-border logistics costs.
It will also allow Dongfeng to respond more quickly to changing demand across Southeast Asian markets.
As production becomes more localized, Dongfeng plans to develop local capabilities in technology, manufacturing processes, management and talent. This is expected to provide more stable production and supply support for the regional market.
The move will also strengthen cooperation between Dongfeng and its local partners.
New products target a range of applications
Following the first vehicle rollout, Dongfeng held a new-product showcase.

Several commercial vehicles designed for Southeast Asian operating conditions and local regulations were presented at the event. The lineup covered applications including construction, long-haul transportation, new-energy vehicles and specialized vehicle conversions.
From regional business planning to local vehicle production, Dongfeng is expanding its product, sales, service and manufacturing capabilities in Southeast Asia.

Going forward, Dongfeng plans to work with local partners to further develop its regional operations in products, sales channels, services and manufacturing.
The company will also continue to adjust its products and services to local market needs and strengthen its regional supply and service capabilities.

With stronger local partnerships and manufacturing capabilities, Dongfeng aims to further expand its commercial vehicle business across Southeast Asia.
